Upcycled Clothing & Natural Dyeing

Worn denim jeans, a well-loved dress with fading color, or a fraying scarf - these pieces of clothing may seem at the end of their life, but in fact, an exciting new beginning is possible. With thoughtful intervention, used items can bloom into something unique and personal. Explore the basics of surface design using stamps and hand painting with thickened mordants. Learn to make your own natural dye vat and achieve a variety of colors. Once mordants are set to the fabric, the clothes are ready to be transformed! Bring pre-loved clothing or scrap fabric made of natural fibers; additional fabric will be provided for color sampling and patchwork. Images and exercises will be provided for inspiration. All levels welcome.

Only 2 spots available.
