First learn basic bowl turning techniques and then make a large bowl from a log section of a locally-sourced tree, most likely one damaged by a storm. The green wood turning technique is a smooth cutting, enjoyable process that allows the finished bowl to become a graceful oval during drying. Design options include carving feet on the bottom of the bowl and shaping the rim to accentuate the natural ovalling process. Your salad bowl will become an heirloom, and your wellness will improve by making the bowl and eating from it!
