Twined Baskets: New Uses for an Ancient Technique

Taught by:

Join today’s artists in using age-old techniques to create sculptural pieces that challenge the idea of “basket.” Using colorful waxed linen, learn the basics of twining, including bases and rims. Explore the many possibilities of pattern, shape and texture. Discuss trends in contemporary basketry and the historical work that inspires it. All are welcome; experienced twiners will work on advanced shaping. No supply fee; an instructor kit fee of $45 is payable during the class.

NOTE: One scholarship for a BIPOC student is available for this workshop. The workshop is listed as FULL, but a spot has been reserved.  Apply by July 1, 2021.
