Sculptural Mosaic with Pal Tiya
Pal Tiya is an easy-to-use, nontoxic medium that allows for the creation of 3D forms without the use of molds, kilns, or heavy armature. It is malleable like clay and becomes as solid as concrete when it air-hardens. Working hands-on in an exploratory fashion, learn to mix, sculpt solid shapes, and use simple forms to create lightweight shells. While a great substrate for mosaics, Pal Tiya can also stand alone. Experiment with different textures, tooling, sanding, and finishes and be inspired by Maria’s many examples. Later in the week after allowing for proper cure time, students will have the opportunity to add mosaic to one of their shapes. All levels welcome.
