Pate de Verre: Treasure Trove of Colors

Explore contemporary approaches to pate de verre, a glass casting and mold making process using glass powders and frit. Students will follow step-by-step processes to create relief castings and hollow vessel forms. Instruction will include: basic clay modeling (clay will not be fired), mold making for glass, painting with glass powders on relief and vessel forms, creating personalized gradations and various tints of glass colors, basic coldworking, and polishing. Opacity and transparency will be discussed. Many examples will be shared along with one-on-one discussion to spark ideas. All levels welcome.
