Natural Patterns & Printmaking

Taught by:

Flow, spirals, branching, cracking, crystals, packing, and meandering will be the focus of this class. To begin, learn to make transfer drawings by observing objects in a small Nature Lab that will be installed in the studio and found on the grounds of Snow Farm. Use these natural patterns while exploring and learning how to print with Akua Intaglio Inks on thin plastic monotype plates.Create a series of related images by reusing, reworking and layering the patterned plates. Additionally, learn to build a carborundum collagraph plate that carries a repeatable and variable image. Working with these plates will expand your printmaking vocabulary while honing your attention to the way the natural world is formed. All levels welcome.
