Monotype Collage with Encaustic Medium
Expand your notion of both monotype and mixed media encaustic collage. On the first day, use R&F pigment sticks on plexi and gelatin plates to create a series of hand-printed monotypes on Asian papers. With play and experimentation, learn the ins and outs of working with these delightful materials. On day two, while your prints are drying, use sample monotypes (provided) and learn how to layer them with encaustic medium on panel. Explore the beautiful interplay of depth created with Asian papers, printed imagery and encaustic medium. Work further into the collage with pigment sticks, charcoal, pan pastel, incising, and additional encaustic techniques. Go home with monotypes created on day 1, and a panel of collaged and altered samples to inspire future projects. All levels welcome.
