Mixed Media Mosaics With Colored Grout

Learn materials and methods to create a beautiful mixed media mosaic using ceramic tile, vitreous glass, china, beads, stained glass, and mirror. Use a playful approach to mix materials and experiment with different tile thicknesses and textures. Bring a design for an 18"; square mosaic. On Days 1 and 2, students will transfer their design, cut and attach tiles directly with acrylic cement, while exploring andamento (the flow of lines through a mosaic) and the impact of color. On Day 3, mix colored grout in vibrant shades using Novacolor acrylics in Sanded Grout, then apply dozens of colors on each panel. In addition to learning about working directly with mixed mosaic materials, the process also applies to making larger mosaic wall murals!
