Learn to Turn

For students with no experience woodturning, spend the weekend on the Harvey lathes at Snow Farm to learn the basics of wood shop safety and the principles of lathe operation. Get your feet wet with simple forms such as a bowl, platter, candle stick, or mortar and pestle. More experienced students will receive individual help with more advanced projects/techniques such as smoother cutting, multi-axis turning, hollowing and more. Students are welcome to bring a special piece of wood that is calling to be worked and add a new form to its life story.
