Lake Pigments for Ink & Paint

Lake pigments are made from natural dyes and are a wonderful way to create vibrant artists’ materials tied to the landscape. Together, extract dyes from natural sources and transmute them into lake pigments, using every drop of color by stabilizing and preserving it. Enjoy an overview of natural materials for dyeing with recipes inspired by 14th-18th century artisans, connecting our art practice to chemistry and history. After processing pigments into ink, watercolor, and pastels, leave with samples of each color and a selection of finished materials to fold into your studio practice. All levels welcome.
