Introduction to Sand Casting

Taught by:

With its low equipment costs, sand casting offers budding jewelers an accessible alternative to lost-wax casting. The process takes only minutes from start to finish, which easily allows for making many copies of an original model. If you want to make multiples of certain jewelry components or focal pieces for production, this quick and easy process is for you! Students will identify a suitable object to replicate, prepare a two-part sand mold, melt and pour sterling silver, and learn how to apply finishing touches to their casting to wear home. All levels welcome.
