That Inner Glow: Creating Lampwork Beads for LED Illumination

LED lights, now small enough to fit inside the hole of a bead, open an entirely new dimension in the construction and appearance of lampwork beads. Explore a range of techniques that produce interesting illuminating effects in soft (COE 104) glass. Experiment with transparent, translucent, opaque and reducing glasses using etching, shaping, layering, color-mixing, and strategic obscuration to control how light travels through the bead. All skill levels welcome; content will be tailored to students' skills and interests. No supply fee: a $15 glass kit fee is payable to the instructor during class; glass and LED components will be available for purchase based on individual usage.
