Glass Pebbles & Mosaic
Combine fused glass “pebbles” with colored glass pieces to create unique and intriguing mosaic works. On day one, students will create small compositions and experiments with glass frits and powders, murrine, layered glass, and copper that will become softly rounded pebbles in an overnight kiln firing. On day two, pebbles will be combined with flat colored glass pieces within student’s own mosaic designs. The pebbles will play with light differently than the thin colored glass, and have a tactile presence that will make them the focus of the mosaic. Students will create a small mosaic, and depending on schedule, will grout their projects or watch a grouting demonstration
