Learn 18th century methods of processing the flax plant to linen thread using traditional tools: a flax brake, scutching tools, and hackles. Cassie will present an overview of growing and retting the plant, and students will learn to dress a distaff and spin the fiber to linen thread. This class is an abbreviated version of prior week-long workshop. Comfort operating a wheel and basic spinning skills recommended. NOTE: This workshop does not have a supply fee, but a $35 kit fee is payable to the instructor at the time of the class.
