Dolls for Change: A Weekend of Doll Making
Learn to make modern dolls based on Kimberly's project Dolls for Change, which raises money for girls' education in Uganda. Each student will receive a goody bag of stuffing, tools, patterns, and fabric, including upcycled clothing such as silk blouses, linen pants, or wool sweaters. Construction will begin with templates and patterns and will involve the use of sewing machines, rotary cutters, scissors, needles, and thread. A wide variety of embellishments and personal touches allow for endless design possibilities. Templates and patterns will allow for continued doll making at home. Sewing dolls is relaxing and this weekend will provide a creative, safe and rejuvenating space to connect, make, and tell stories together. Each student will finish 2-3 dolls. No previous experience necessary. No supply fee; an instructor kit fee of $45 is payable during the class.
