Creating Lasting Large Scale Mosaics

Taught by:

Work small and learn large! Eric will share years of experience in making exterior mosaic murals including how to create and scale a design for a wall, what materials to use, precautions, advice for working in the elements, and site specific considerations. Students will learn glass cutting basics and use of tools to create a mosaic panel on board and practice the concepts most important to a larger work. Emphasis will be on composition and the importance of grout lines to showcase the glass while creating movement, flow, and texture. Explore the use of mirror and opalescent glass and consider how the sun and direction of an installation may light up the mosaic. Safety is a priority - learn ways to responsibly work with thinset and grout, along with proper handling of glass and tools. All levels welcome.
