Breathing Baskets: Holding Air & Ideas
Explore ideas suggested through openwork textile structures, knotted and knotless netting. Use materials such as wire, telephone wire, reeds, waxed linen, and yarn, which has body and holds knots well. Openings for air and what is not there will be built into quick studies and students will be encouraged as they discover, explore, and question. Gain comfort with netting techniques, both knotted netting and looping, and broaden understanding of how these techniques can be used to express ideas in sculptural baskets, both during the workshop and beyond.
