Beyond Basics on the Wheel
Take wheel throwing beyond basics to investigate new surfaces, undulating volumes, and bulbous designs in clay. Participants will be introduced to the potter’s wheel as a tool to generate distinctive elements including curved, jagged, and flowing forms. Explore working unconventionally, combining throwing and handbuilding to make sculptural and functional vessels. Learn building methods that are effective for working on a larger scale, applicable to non-circular forms, and useful in double-walled construction. Demonstrations will balance with hands-on work time and plenty of individualized attention. Basic wheel experience required.
NOTE: No firing this session, but some work may be eligible for post workshop bisque firing. See details here.
