Rich Turnbull is an art historian, printmaker, book artist and experimental photographer who works primarily in New York and western Massachusetts. He teaches classes in Islamic Art, Oceanic Art, history of industrial design and various other subjects at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, where he is full professor in the History of art Department. Additionally, he has taught workshops at Manhattan Graphics Center (NY), the International Center of Photography (NY), Zea Mays Printmaking (MA) and the Penumbra Foundation (NY) and was a lecturer for many years at the Museum of Modern Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. His prints and artists’ books are in various private and institutional collections and he has recently expanded his art practice to include papermaking, encaustic and 3D assemblage.
