Retiring after 35+ years as a computer and automotive engineer, Kurt now enjoys being a professional woodturner. With 25 years of turning experience, he enjoys the continuum of woodturning from making his own turning tools to photographing his finished turnings. As frequent demonstrator and instructor on all facets of woodturning, he particularly enjoys teaching tool sharpening, workholding, ornaments, and advanced penmaking. Kurt has had over 185 woodturning related articles internationally published since 2012. His articles have appeared in Woodturning, Woodturning Design, American Woodturner, Woodturning FUNdamentals, and More Woodturning. He is past President of the American Association of Woodturners, one of the four Council Members of the Pen Makers Guild, and past Chairman of the Rochester Woodworkers Society.
