Erica Wurtz

Erica received her BA from Bennington College, and earned her MFA from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. She has exhibited her work at such venues as The Helen Drutt Gallery, Greenwich House Pottery, and Lill Street Gallery. Her ceramic vessels have been reviewed in the New York Times and appeared in Ceramics Monthly and Art New England. She has taught ceramics at Marlboro College, Radcliffe Studio, The Hartford Art School, and most recently at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Erica has been a Massachusetts Cultural Council grant recipient. Her wheel-thrown, hand-built pieces present a sensuous, gestural approach to the abstracted vessel. Drawing from Cubism and Collage, her double walled forms are driven by the interplay of gestural relationships. Erica works in her home studio in Conway, Massachusetts.
