Dorie Guthrie was first exposed to glass when she stumbled upon a small glass studio in her hometown of Moline, IL. Since graduating from Illinois State University, Guthrie has continued her studies, having been awarded scholarships at Corning Museum of Glass, Penland School of Craft, and Pittsburgh Glass Center. Over the last twelve years, Dorie taught and worked on staff at the Pilchuck Glass School and has been a teacher's assistant at Bild-Werk, Corning Museum of Glass, Pilchuck, and Pittsburgh Glass Center. Dorie was selected to demonstrate flameworking at the 2013 Glass Art Society Conference in Toledo, Ohio. She was featured in Winter 2019 of GLASHAUS magazine and was also nominated for New Glass Review 42. Before moving to Brooklyn, Dorie worked at a Bullseye Kiln Glass Resource Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. She currently teaches kiln casting, flameworking, fusing, and imagery techniques at UrbanGlass + Salem Community College and fabricates for artists.
