The Workshop Access Program (WAP) offers a deep discount on tuition for students who are eligible based on household income (see chart below). To apply for WAP, candidates fill out a short online form and submit a recent tax return. Acceptance into the WAP is valid for one year, and participants can re-apply each year. Up to 25 people can participate in the program.
The application period runs from January 1 - March 26, 2023. At the end of March, applications will be reviewed. If there are more qualified applicants than spaces in the program, awardees will be selected by lottery. Once accepted into the program, participants can register for any workshop that has openings, at any time in the season, with a limit of one class per year.
NOTE: The 2023 program has been expanded! In past years, WAP participants were notified two weeks in advance of a class and invited to register for spots that were open at that time. Now, participants are welcome to register for any spot that is open after accepted into the program. Discounts cannot be applied retroactively to existing registrations, nor can a person register for a class to hold a seat, drop it, and re-register as a WAP participant.
When registering for a workshop through the WAP, class tution is discounted 60%. Supplies, housing, and meals are not discounted and are payable at the time of registration. The cost of housing and meals varies based on the length of the class, the studio, and the type of housing selected.
