Cathryn Jasterzbski completed her undergraduate degrees from The State University of New York at New Paltz. With a BFA in Metal and a BS in Visual Arts Education, she consistently integrates her metalsmithing background into various teaching environments in addition to making her work. Within her practice, Cathryn investigates the history of contemporary art jewelry and that of fine jewelry in order to contribute to the visual conversation between these two worlds. She values interdisciplinary material exploration in her own work and is always experimenting with material and its ability to add value to this existing dialogue. Cathryn has taught in public school art classrooms as well as at Peter's Valley School of Craft, Snow Farm: The New England Craft Program, and recently participated in the Winter residency program at Penland Craft School. Cathryn will be attending Rhode Island School of Design come fall of 2017 for her MFA in metal.
