Take a walk through history as you explore Islamic-world paper and book arts. On days one and two, make paper using traditional Indo-Islamic methods. Papers will then be naturally dyed, sized and burnished. In the following days, learn to bind a 9th century Islamic codex based on a historical example. Leave with a sampling of various techniques and a 9th century Islamic binding model. No experience required. Note: This class is part of a special program called Beyond Borders: A Celebration of International Craft. See details on Special 2018 under the Workshops tab.
