Drawing on his own rich language of patterns influenced by the creative traditions of the African continent, David will demonstrate a variety of strategies and techniques related to enriching the surface of a leather-hard form. Techniques will include: carving, slip-trailing, sgrafitto, inlaying, sprigging, stamping, and wax resist. Bring leather-hard pieces and create some new work. Students should be proficient in throwing or constructing on their own. NOTE: This class is part of a special program called Beyond Borders: A Celebration of International Craft. See details on Special 2018 under the Workshops tab.
