BEGINNING TO INTERMEDIATE WHEEL THROWING & HAND BUILDING WITH STONEWARE, RAKU & PIT FIRING - Bob Green
This six week session will introduce students to various forming and firing techniques.  Each class will incorporate demonstrations as well as individualized instruction. This will be a perfect environment to learn or relearn good throwing and forming techniques.  Intermediate students will refine skills, as well as gaining greater control and confidence of throwing and glazing techniques.  Ceramic pieces produced will be pit fired (characteristic of Native American Pottery), Raku fired (A Japanese firing technique closely associated with Zen Buddhism), as well a stoneware firing in Snow Farms’ gas reduction fired kiln.
Tuition: $420 (includes materials and firing fee)

BEGINNING TO INTERMEDIATE GLASSBLOWING – TBA
Glassblowing is an exciting and mesmerizing process, as you watch the transformation of the glass from glowing honey to glittering solid.  This class is designed both for beginners and those with some experience.  You will learn many different ways that glass can be manipulated and formed, eventually controlling the glass on your own.
EXTRA BLOWING TIME can be scheduled with the instructor at an extra cost.
Tuition: $520 (includes materials and lab fee)

BEGINNING TO INTERMEDIATE LAMPWORKING Sally Prasch
This workshop will be bursting with activity-a haven in which to create beads and glass work of all shapes, sizes, colors and textures.  The processes we’ll be using are easy to learn, with the results extraordinarily varied, from classic to heavily patterned beads...each an art object that can stand alone or be part of a necklace, bracelet, earrings or other piece of jewelry.  Sally will also be covering some more advanced skills using Boroscilicate to create hollow forms.
Tuition: $460 (includes materials and lab fee)

DIGITAL DARKROOM: Beginner Adobe Photoshop CS – Frank Ward
Learn to use your computer as an alternative to the traditional darkroom.  Import images from 35mm film, prints, or digital cameras; then retouch, adjust contrast and color, burn, dodge and print.  Students will be working on Snow Farms’ eMac computers, Epson Photo scanners and Epson Stylus color photo printers.  The skills that you will learn in this class are easily transferred to any PC with Adobe Photoshop CS installed.
Tuition: $420 (includes lab fee)

THE SOUTHWESTERN COILED BASKET: Elizabeth Whyte Schulze
Using natural materials students will learn to weave exquisite baskets using the Lazy Squaw stitch. Hand dyed colors of raffia coiled over round reed will allow the student to stitch a traditional design. Coiled baskets of this technique were known as the treasure baskets in the early southwest. The class will learn about designing on a coiled format and how to plan a pattern. In addition students will also experiment with long leaf pine needles that can be added to the baskets for design or used in the core of the coiled basket.
Tuition $420 (Includes lab fee)
