Carolyn “Lyn” Lyons Horan, a visual artist and teacher of 30 years, has exhibited her work in galleries across the USA including in NYC, Baltimore, Washington DC, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Michigan, Washington (state), Virginia, Vermont, and Massachusetts.  She has also shown her work in Israel, Greece, and Turkey.  Her work has been reviewed in various publications including the Baltimore Sun, Washington Post, Art Papers, the Vermont Journal, and the Hampshire Gazette.

After receiving her undergraduate degree in Fine Arts, she continued her education at the Washington Studio School, and through professional residencies including the Vermont Studio Center in 2003, 2004, and 2009.

Horan  believes in the intrinsic, academic, and healing qualities of engaging in the creative act at all ages.  Her philosophy and work are referred to in Dr. Tobi Zausner’s book, When Walls Become Doorways:  Creativity and the Transforming Illness (2007).  Horan has been teaching art for many years and finds and enjoys the reciprocal process in which her own art work is stimulated by the students whom she inspires.  She currently lives and maintains a studio in Holyoke, MA.
