In 1986, The New England Craft Program (called Horizons at the time) opened its doors as one of the only places young people could be taken seriously as artists. Every summer since, we have provided creative young people the rare opportunity to study and work with professional artists in a supportive and engaging environment.

Our intensive, full immersion curriculum is based on small class size and one-on-one instruction. Participants have the chance to dive completely into their work with no distractions. In our professionally equipped studios and under the direction of highly skilled teachers, our students expand both their technical skills and their ability to fully express their creative vision with confidence.

For students considering art school or a career in the arts, our summer session is an excellent way to expand and develop a portfolio. Recent alumni have gone on to study at RISD, Alfred University, School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and many other top level art programs. Many of our alumni are now established artists.

Snow Farm Summer’s students are a diverse group of young people between the ages of 14 and 18. Our small classes and extensive facilities allow students at all levels of experience and skill to grow and develop as artists. Some students arrive with specific goals and projects in mind, and others are ready to experiment with a brand new medium; some are preparing their portfolios for college applications, while others are taking the first step on their creative path. Our tranquil setting and focused, energetic environment provide a great opportunity to jump into a new medium or refine technique in an area of expertise.  But no matter what they walk in the door with, our students leave with an unforgettable experience, lasting friendships and real skills.
