CAITLIN HYDE

necklace

CAITLIN HYDE received her B.F.A. from the University of Cincinnati and her M.F.A. in Fibers from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. Although Caitlin's background is in fibers, she began experimenting with flameworking glass and was absorbed by it immediately. She has studied with Loren Stump, Lucio Bubaco, Emilio Santini and Robert Mickelson at the Studio of the Corning Museum of Glass. Caitlin's goal in glass work "is to temper the ancient tradition of flameworking with my contemporary design viewpoint". She has taught flameworking for many craft schools and sells her work at bead shows.

In this three day, intensive bead workshop students of all levels will learn how to make glass beads at the torch while developing and fine tuning skills in bead shaping and precision surface decoration. Emphasis will be on understanding the subtle use of heat to control form and pattern.beads
