The brooch is the oldest artifact and the first jewelry piece known today. Unlike other forms of jewelry, the brooch has a front and a back, where both require the same attention to detail. In this course, you will be making brooches. Through this process you will learn different techniques mainly focusing around found objects, cold connections and alternate materials. After making the body of the brooch, whether using nonmetals or metal, you will learn different brooch mechanisms to finish your piece. Combine traditional and innovative ideas to create wearable works of art! Basic metal skills are highly recommended.
