Cloisonné enamel is a traditional technique often seen in ancient Chinese and Islamic metalwork, whereby small wire cells are filled with enamel to create beautiful graphic and decorative patterns.  Join our intensive workshop and learn the basics of kiln-fired cloisonné.  Demonstrated skills will include preparation of base metal, creation and firing of cloisonné wires on that base, wet packing of enamel, and finishing techniques.  Students can expect to complete several sample pieces or a flat pendant of their own design.  Prior metals experience is highly recommended due to the intricate and complex nature of cloisonné design.
