The art of decorative paste papers dates back to16th century bookbinding and continues to be used today in a variety of artistic applications. In this class students will create a range of decorative paste papers while exploring color, design, and visual texture. Various tools and techniques will be used to apply and manipulate pigment laden paste on the paper surface, creating a multilayer design of color and pattern on each sheet. The creative possibilities are endless! Next, students will learn step by step instructions to create a lidded embellished box, woven basket, and a hand bound book.
